The radial supernova remnant distribution in the Galaxy

چکیده

Supernovae are the dominant source of chemical enrichment galaxies, and they an important energy to heat interstellar medium accelerate cosmic rays. Our knowledge supernovae in Milky Way is based mostly on study Galactic supernova remnants (SNRs), providing (incomplete) record activity over last ~100,000 yr. Here we report investigation spatial distribution SNRs. Given limited number SNRs it common assume a functional form for Galactocentric However, several forms have been used past, without much justification radial distribution. For example, one often implies that no present Centre region. presence magnetar SNR near suggest with zero at not realistic. In light these concerns reevaluate We provide brief outline main detection biases finding investigate whether or use most justified how compares other models do this by analysing longitudinal find simple exponential consistent simplest model describing Galaxy draw comparisons massive star formation metallicity distributions.

The Remnant of Supernova 1987A

Although it has faded by a factor of ∼107, SN 1987A is still bright enough to be observed in almost every band of the electromagnetic spectrum. Today, the bolometric luminosity of the debris is dominated by a far-infrared (∼200 μm) continuum from ∼0.5 M of dust grains in the interior debris. The dust is heated by UV, optical, and near-infrared (NIR) emission resulting from radioactive energy de...

Revisiting the radial distribution of pulsars in the Galaxy

The high sensitivity Parkes and Swinburne Multibeam pulsar surveys have nearly doubled the number of known pulsars and revealed many more distant pulsars with high dispersion measures. These data allow us to investigate in more detail the statistical parameters and distribution of pulsars, especially in the central regions of the Galaxy, which was almost impossible in previous low-frequency and...

The radial distribution of OB star formation in the Galaxy

We present the azimuthally averaged radial distribution of 748 regions of OB star formation in the whole galactic disk, based on our previous CS(2-1) survey of UC H II regions. Embedded massive stars produce a total FIR luminosity of 1.39 108 L within the range 0.2 ≤ R/R◦ ≤ 2 in galactocentric radius. We find 492 massive star forming regions within the solar circle, producing 81% of the total F...

Bullets in a Core Collapse Supernova Remnant: the Vela Remnant

We use two-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations to investigate the properties of dense ejecta clumps (bullets) in a core collapse supernova remnant, motivated by the observation of protrusions probably caused by clumps in the Vela supernova remnant. The ejecta, with an inner flat and an outer steep power law density distribution, were assumed to freely expand into an ambient medium with a con...

ISO observations of the interacting galaxy Markarian 297 ⋆ with the powerful supernova remnant 1982 aa

Markarian (Mkn) 297 is a complex system comprised of two interacting galaxies that has been modelled with a variety of scenarios. Observations of this system were made with the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) using the ISOCAM, ISOPHOT and LWS instruments. ISOCAM maps at 6.7 µm, 7.7 µm, 12 µm and 14.3 µm are presented which, together with PHT-S spectrometry of the central interacting region, pr...
